Leyden Lessons

Page history last edited by Mikkel Storaasli 13 years, 2 months ago

The internet is an incredible resource for online lessons and tutorials, so learning doesn't have to happen 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. We will start to list resources for students here as we find them, but because this is a wiki, anyone can add content. If you know of any resources, please share them.

1. Khan Academy: There are almost 2000 YouTube lessons posted on such topics as basic math, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, chemistry, history, and economics. It's amazing. Khan has expanded to include quizzes and formative assessments.

2. SAS Curriculum Pathways: SAS Curriculum pathways offers free online curriculum modules in each of English, math, science, social studies, and Spanish. They can be used as demos, or as practice for students.

3. TI-Nspire tutorials. All sorts of online tutorials for the new TI calculator.

4. Project Interactivate from the Shodor Foundation. "The goals of  Interactivate are the creation, collection, evaluation, and dissemination of interactive, java-based courseware for exploration in science and mathematics." They have hundreds of lessons, activities, mini-quizzes in number and operations, geometry, algebra, probability and statistics, mathematical modeling, discrete mathematics, and more.

5. Academic Earth. Online course from the World's Top Scholars. Academic Earth offers video lectures from elite universities, and it allows viewers to grade the professors. Academic Earth also offers a “Playlists” feature based around themes such as “Laws of Nature,” “Wars Throughout History,” or “You Are What You Eat.”
